Mountain View Inn is a great value in a high price area. The room was clean and everything worked (with one exception below). The room was quiet and the beds were good. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The location is good, being a short drive to Banff. There was no breakfast, but there was coffee in the lobby. The wireless internet didn't work in the room, but did in the lobby. A minor inconvenience to save a few dollars. Great hotel for the valued traveler.
Positives: Cheap, clean hotel.
Negatives: Internet didn't work in room.

When the night staff was informed of toilet leak, he reacted "can't give you another room" - we didn't want another but he should have offered one. The same night staff was helpful getting his wireless hub accessible for my kids lap top so they could do they're homework.
Positives: Economical for Canmore, Quiet (no trains or traffic).
Negatives: One room toilet slowly leaked clean water on floor, no restaurant, no suites, no pool or waterslide

The place was alright. Really it was just a hallway of rooms. Nothing decorated the hall and paint was peeling off. The service was pretty bad (the guy when we arrived made it seem like we were ruining his slacking off). There was one guy that was really sweet but we had him when we checked out. Overall, it was OK. Nothing more, nothing less.
Positives: Location was perfect for what we were looking for.
Negatives: The service.

The location is fine. The parking lot is big and safe feeling. The motel itself, however, is simply run poorly. It's a fairly new building, but the rooms simply aren't comfortable. They're dark and rather dingy and only slightly above hostel quality. I have indeed stayed in more comfortable hostels. The carpet is worn, the beds are low and the ceilings feel low. The bathroom fixtures are dated and the bathrooms are lit poorly. For the price, I wouldn't return. The value is clearly lacking. Canmore and Banff have many other hotels/motels that offer a lot more.
Positives: Good location in Canmore, close to Banff and downtown Canmore.
Negatives: Hotel staff seem to simply not care. Housekeeping left door wide open all day!

Located just outside the busier section of beautiful Canmore, the Mountain view Inn is neither too close, nor too far away. The views of the surrounding mountains are spectacular. The hotel itself is smallish and quaint. The highly touted complete renovation of May 2008 is not in much evidence unless it was in truly terrible shape before. Door locks are old key style and everything seems to be old with perhaps just a new coat of paint. Overall this hotel is reasonably comfortable.
Positives: Helpful lady at front desk.
Negatives: No one was answering phone or at front desk much of the time.

Hotel and staff very friendly. Great location. The rooms are average looking but a bit noisy when people slammed the doors.
Positives: Location.
Negatives: To noisy.

Nice hotel, clean, good-sized rooms, friendly staff. The parking lot is rather limited and there is not an elevator, nor facilities for disabled people, so if you need that, I'd recommend you to check a different option. Otherwise is a good value for the money.
Positives: Good price, clean hotel, nice room, good location.
Negatives: Small parking area, no elevator, no facilities for disabled people.

Unhelpful staff, bad room design toilet built against wall and flooded during our stay.
Positives: It was in a lovely position.
Negatives: Bad design of rooms, unhelpful staff.
