Cresthaven By The Sea

Maitland, Nova Scotia

Cresthaven By The Sea is a bed & breakfast located in Maitland.

Constructed for the most part by the master carpenters of the local ship building industry, the homes of Maitland provide a extraordinary exhibition of unique 19th century architecture. Cresthaven was built in the Classical Revival Style for Captain John Macomber in 1865. The roof eaves are enhanced with dense bracketry and dentils, and the corners of the house are tastefully framed with wide, finely moulded pilasters.

Located at the waters edge with a commanding view of the Bay of Fundy, home of the highest recorded tides in the world, Cresthaven By The Sea has been carefully restored to showcase this 19'th century Greek Gothic Revival Shipbuilders masterpiece.

Featuring four luxurious suites all with fireplace, ensuite bath, A/C and more.

Visit the Lawrence House Museum, home of W.D. Lawrence, the builder of the largest wooden sailing vessel in the country's history. All within walking distance!

Situated high atop a bank overlooking the river we are just steps away from what was the original wharf, where residents would board a small ferry to be carried across the Shubenacadie river.
