Friendly, clean, good location.

Positives: The price and location.

Negatives: The room was very small.

VERY old and outdated. I have stayed in Howard Johnson's before and this is not a typical Howard Johnson as it was originally a privately owned hotel which must be at least 70 years old. There is a pub right below it that is incredibly loud until 3 am. We were on the 3rd floor farthest unit from the pub and it still kept us up at night.

Positives: Gated parking.

Negatives: The very strong oder in the hallways.

I have never had a problem, but this hotel is most definitely not the kind of hotel I expect to. Our room was horrible. For $ I expect to at least be comfortable in the room. We were on a trip of a lifetime and this room/hotel experience reduced me to tears. The room smelled horrible, the comforter was filthy, there were holes burned in the blanket and the wallpaper was peeling, the remote control for the TV was literally falling apart, the walls were paper thin. We heard the guy next to us coughing all night! On top of it we had no control of the heat/air. We literally froze and finally at 11:00 PM we called the front desk telling them we couldn't figure out how to control the air/heat, only to find out that they controlled the air/heat for the whole building. We froze the entire night.

Positives: Check out.

Negatives: Just about everything.

Nice hotel in nice and safe area. Mini mall is just 5 minutes walking and you can buy many thinks there (food, drugstore, liquor store). Every Saturday hotel offering Salsa party for $10 (until 2 am) and in the basement you can experience hotel night club with more club style. VERY FRIENDLY and clean hotel.

Positives: Salsa party which is every Saturday in hotel club. Excellent + hotel night club.

Negatives: Not offering breakfast.

I was not at all impressed with the hotel rooms. Things like shower mat were missing. The sheets were not that clean either. They did not meet the expectation for the price I paid.

Positives: The view was good.

Negatives: The hotel room was not something I expected for the price I paid. The rooms were missing some of the necessary amenities.

This was a dreary place. The room was clean and not bad, though more cramped than most. The location is on busy streets with no grounds or even bushes. Side doors were locked and then eventually propped open. Everything in the hotel outside the room felt cramped and tatty, bread crusts on the elevator floor, and heavy deodorizing floral scent in the hallways (though the hall carpet looked new). The lobby was dinky. Although there was apparently a restaurant, I never saw a sign to direct me to it. I felt sorry for this place, but not enough to go back

Positives: The room was quiet.

Negatives: Lobby area was unattractive and cramped, hallways had a heavy floral deodorizer smell, the outside was dreary, depressing place

The room was pretty small and cramped but I feel like I got what I paid for. The decor in the lobby was extremely tacky, but I loved it. I stayed there on new years eve with a group of friends and everyone else there seemed to be partying so no one bothered us for being loud, however I doubt it's usually that way.

Positives: The front desk staff was very friendly.

Negatives: It was not located downtown; it was about a ten minuet cab ride or an hour and a half drunken walk from Granville.

We used to stay in this place before in our travel through be and let me tell you, it went from fare to worth over the year. Good location to access city's attractions and fare prices - might be a bonus, but overall experience made me reconsider my future hotel accommodations.

Positives: Location is good and easy to access city's attractions.

Negatives: Cheap room setting, no sense of cleanliness, bad smell, careless staff, stains all over the place.

The worst of the experiences I've had. The TV did not work and was not fixed on request. When anyone used the shower a loud whine disturbed us. It was old fashioned, a small room and only barely met my needs as a business traveler.

Positives: It was fairly convenient.

Negatives: TV did not work, pipes cause a whine, old fashioned.

Public transportation was important on this trip. A short walk to the B-line to UBC, buses downtown frequent. Unfortunately, both trips were a little long. I should have stayed near Robson downtown. The staff was friendly, but security in the lobby had an eastern European feel at night. Probably where the guy was positioned and how he was dressed. Nice guy otherwise. I sleep in a lot of hotel beds for business, these ranked in the lower third in my opinion. Under the sheets they were dirty (dust, mildew?), back support was uneven, and the pillows were thin. Safe in the room was too obvious, made me feel like I really needed to take notice with my safety. The overall message was that I probably should have stayed in a different part of town, but as I had not stayed in Vancouver before, this seemed to be a good choice.

Positives: My floor was reasonably clean, as was the room. Nice view of the mountains.

Negatives: A little remote for a tourist, too many drunks outside Friday and Saturday night.

This hotel is NOT located in downtown Vancouver, like they claim it is. The room itself was very cramped and very dirty. We filled the bathtub only to find that it was full of pubic hair and dead skin. The ceiling also had pubic hair hanging from it. The condition of the room was not the worst of it... The elevator is so old and noisy that it keep my and my husband up all night. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Positives: The hotel staff was nice.

Negatives: It was very dirty, and very noisy I got almost no sleep the whole weekend.

Older hotel in need of renovation, mold on tub.

Positives: It was available.

Negatives: The neighborhood was seedy, and we did not feel safe.

Not a bad value for the rate, but I would not stay there again unless I had a great rate for the night. Too far from downtown or Kitsilano, looks grungy, and slow elevators.

Positives: Best rate I could find in Vancouver for the weekend. Quiet, clean, free parking.

Negatives: Far from downtown, outdated - looks grungy from the outside, hard to get to parking area.

The Howard Johnson on Kingsway, the old Baltimore Hotel, has undergone a recent cosmetic renovation. The staff are helpful, if not very friendly. The restaurant service is not to be used due to the smell of mold and mildew emanating from it. For a short stay it is sufficient.

Positives: Convenient to where we needed to go.

Negatives: Restaurant smelled of mold and mildew and could not eat there.

Take this of your list of hotels this is without question a very bad value and did not have any of the things.

Positives: Easy to find.

Negatives: No continental breakfast as stated, large burn in rug, restaurant not open, room smelled, dried blood on sheets.
