I drove down to this hotel from Edmonton with my fiance for a nice RELAXING getaway. We check in at 9pm and headed to our room. We were there a about a half an hr and we noticed a train go by and it sounded very loud and the hotel shook. We were a litte annoyed but figured, it would be the last one of the night, so we tried to relax and enjoy our evening! But boy were we wrong!!!! The train (which is right across the street hidden by some newly built townhouses) went by every half an hr tooting its horn, for the rest of the time we were there. I wanted to leave by midnight after getting no sleep at all, but there was no one there to check me out. Being a nice person I tried to wait until as late as possible to call the number on the door, and wake the person up from their sleep and get them to check me out *they took a cash deposit that I wanted back*. Finally by 4am I couldn't take it anymore. I called the number on the door and woke the lady up to check me out. When she came I explained that no one had told me about the train, I hadn't slept at all, and how I tried to be considerate and wait as long as possible to wake her up. She replied "ya, the train takes a bit of getting used too", "but there is nothing I can do in regards to any refund". Seriously?? I didn't get my continental breakfast. I didn't get any sleep. I of course didnt expect all of my money back, because I understand that they have to change the sheets, on the bed that I "laid on", and TRIED to sleep...but geeze. No compensation what-soever. I feel that this is just bad business etiquette, and further more....it is what drove me to write this review in order to warn other people, which will tell people the truth about staying there. This may cause them to lose more money in the long run....I am a hotel manager myself, and am really hurt by how inconsiderate it is to run your business like this, especially coming from a small town. But I guess no matter what I write the people that stay there are gonna hear the train all night, and never come back again anyways. I know I wont. I also notice that they don't allow you to post reviews on their website, and only post "good testimonials" themselves, with no way to give your opinion as a member of the public.

Positives: The red-headed lady that checked us in was very friendly.

Negatives: The train. The lady that checked us out, and had no compassion whatsoever, in the fact that we had to pack up and drive all the way back to Edmonton at 4 a.m. on no sleep, due to their misrepresentation, by no warning anyone about the train.
