We didn't end up going here. Why? Somehow all of our reservations for the July long weekend vanished from the book. There were four of us. Called in a group of two and later the other two called to book. This was months before the weekend. We called to confirm things and amazingly all four of the reservations were not there. Magically gone. These guys use a paper book and a pencil...and possibly an eraser. Watch out. Your bookings may not be safe here. Good thing we called before hand to make sure. Too bad we called to late to be able to find something else.

In my opinion, a campsite needs to have a robust booking system to be worth much. You just have to be able to rely on your bookings.

We have started coming to this campground this summer and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our grandchildren loved the money pit, the playground, the overall experience, and especially the rafting down the Little Red River. Even our daughters came out and had a marvelous time. I cannot say one negative comment about this campground. It is definitely family oriented and a great place for children. The staff was awesome, very accommodating, pleasant to speak to, and had different venues for the adults as well - the duck races. We will always be coming back here if there's room. You really do have to make a reservation to get a spot. Definitely a 10 in our books.

Positives: Fabulous location, pleasant staff, very family oriented

Negatives: None at all

After reading a few reviews, we decided to go tenting there for one night. It sounded like the campground I used to camp at when I was a child so it couldn't be too bad.

The location isn't desirable if you're looking to do anything outside the campground, if you just want to stay at the campground, it's perfect. Full of woods, there's a river, playground for kids, etc etc.

The sites were clean, the bathrooms and showers were clean (not by any mean 5 star hotel clean, but up to par with campground bathrooms), the grass was well kept, everything we saw was clean.

The staff, well its a family owed campground, while there is a tiny bit attitude, it's common I find of family owed campground because people try to take advantage of them and what not. Either way, we were polite and respectful and we had no issues what so ever with the staff. So unless you are rude and or loud, you should not have any issues. As for the comment about being young, we (2 guys, 1 gal, no kids) were all under 25 and had no issues. Again, we are polite, respectful and quiet.

Also, I *HATE* non-flush toilets, and the ones there were about a 1/10 the smell of the ones at Ghost Lake.. They were tolerable enough that you could still breathe in there which is saying a lot. **They also have flush toilets, the non-flush were just a lot closer for middle of the night usage**

Overall, would I camp there again? Yes, in a heartbeat. The only downside was that the river wasn't nearly as big as we imagined it to be but that can't exactly be helped.

Positives: Clean site with lots of cover, Cheap dry fire wood ($10 for at least 24 pieces if not 30), family friendly, quiet, great atmosphere and many more, see review.

Negatives: River is too narrow.

This was a great campground. We would definitely recommend it to people with young children. "Money Mountain" kept our kids occupied for hours. :) The shallow slow moving river is a nice touch as well. I can't say that there were any negatives about our stay. Good job staff!

Positives: - great location
- good activities for kids
- slow moving shallow river

Ok upon reading some of the reviews from the past I think people are being rediculous. Child running every where? What is that? Ofcourse children are running around everywhere it is a campground that they feel safe in doing so. I have gone here on several occations and I have to say it is great place for people with families. The campsites are close together but please tell me places where they are not. The staff have never been rude to me or anyone that I know and I just don't understand what people are looking for in the owners. I do recammend camping here.

Positives: Location is great and alot for kids to do.

Always a good experience, contrary to some reviews of people that have no campground common sense. C'mon using gas to light a fire...use your head! We have been going there regulary for a number of years and the owners have always accomodated our requests and even went above and beyond the call of duty. If you're there to have a good time and relax, this is the place to go, the prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly and it is kid friendly!

Nothing at all what was advertised in the travel blog, except for the beautiful mountain views.
From what I read here and experianced, this place certainly misses more than it hits, if you happen to get the staff on a good day you and your family will have a great weekend, if not you simply just wont!
I would recomend other places, but not this one

Positives: Bautiful site, would be a gold mine with the right business minded, professinal trained staff

Negatives: Everything has already been mentioned in others negative comments, nothing that I can add except, that we wont visit again

Got to the campsite, were put into a fairly open spot. Since we were campign with a few couples we asked if we could have a spot with a few more trees. They accommodated us very well and moved us to a site that was fully treed (a site they were working on building). It was amazing! We had a great time. All the kids loved money mountain (a sand hill stocked with quaters for kids to dig up and use at the concession), the playground, volleyball net and visiting the river as a group.

Positives: Campsite was clean, staff was very nice and wanted to please, firewood was cheap, lots of things for children to do and felt safe letting them go and have fun.

Negatives: Most campsites are a bit open, but it all depends on how you look at it.

..... I only wished my family had researched this campsite more? if by quiet family campsite
you mean.. hoards of un-supervised children that start screaming at dawn and dont stop till
dusk, while thier parents are back at thier campsites..then ok??? If you are a lowly weekend
renter then dont stay here...it seems if you complain about anything and you are not a "personal
friend or lontime seasonal camper" your concerns will not be heard?? after looking at others
coments... I suggest this.. PRIVITIZE, this way the owners can have only thier friends and
"club" members and they do not have to let the LOWLY public in at all. also it is painfully
clear that some comments come from either personal friends or the owners "bread&butter" as in
seasonal campers?

Positives: beautiful mountain views and valley

Negatives: owners PR skills, rude, no space between sites. un -supervised children

Excellent, Excellent campground for families. Very safe and the owners have created a community of safety, fun and relaxation. Partiers beware as this is a FAMILY campground and noisy, bad attitude patrons are asked to leave, which is the story from some of the negative posters below. :) We camp there regulary with our young family and the kids have a ball while we are able to relax and enjoy the serentity of this lovely spot in tall trees and slow moving river. Recommended for those looking for R&R, a little rustic but all fun.

Positives: Location, camping experience, fires allowed, money mountain (brilliant for kids).

Chose this "family" campground for myself, my husband and my young daughter to spend time together. It seemed like if you don't supervise your kids or care what they do, this is a GREAT place. Other campers complained about my husband watching my daughter at the park! (He WAS the ONLY parent to do so). She is 5 YEARS OLD. I watched in amazement as children ran everywhere making noise and engaging in inappropriate behavior. One little boy was peeing on trees! And nobody said anything!

Positives: The scenery was pretty nice.
They had hookups.

Negatives: Couldn't put my daughter to sleep because kids running around screaming. Quiet time did not start at eleven o'clock. I think it got quieter at three in the morning.
Campground was generally poorly managed, messy, dirty and disgusted.
This is not a FAMILY campground I will be visiting again.

I have been there alot and know the owners well, the campground itself is a very nice place to gp. Theres a Playground for kids to play at and a river to go floating down. its a quiet place to just relax and hang with the family, The owners are not the best but they try to take care of the Camp. I love going there and I dont really go anywhere else.

OWNER(WOMAN)...Upon entering the little store, was gossiping and complaining of either customers who were staying there already or had recently left?? to anyone who would bother to listen? UN-PROFESSINALISM AT ITS BEST, since this was our first time there. it had left our family with the impression that as soon as we left, we would also be victims of un-solicited comments as well? so the next day we thought we would try again, bad news upon entering to get a treat, anyone with-in hearing range was subjected to the owners need to feel better about herself or something? the place was just a negative place to be... bad way to run a bussiness!! we wont be back, we camp to relax and be positve. upon returning home after the weekend we related this story to several friends, some had went there before and have never returned due to the owners "so what' attitude. bad news here stay away and tell your friends!

Positives: great area, easy to get to, beautiful along the river

CAMPERS AND TRAVELERS BEWARE!!!!
DONT stay here!! apparently you can not start your fire using some gas. ( wet popular with lots of mould) that was sold to us by the campground owners!! after trying all the traditional methods, to start the fire we were forced to use some gas, which after the gas burned off the fire quickly went out anyway!! then had to feed the kids sandwichs instead of some thing hot and went to bed. The next day we were told to leave I asked why? "its because you tried to start your fire with gas, I replied then you shouldnt sell wet mouldy wood to your customers!! and I want a refund for the wood! and where are exactly are these rules posted and we were not told upon registering??? "owner said, they're not, but everybody knows that!? .... well we got our money back, and by the way we had pre-paid for ONE WHOLE MONTH UP-FRONT, and that was our first night there!! dont stay there!!!

Staff very friendly and helpful. Went out of there way to assist my family.
Very clean and well maintained. Wonderful place for the children. A very
safe environment for kids to go out and play without constant adult supervision.
Caters to a family environment without the younger party atmosphere.

Positives: Money mountain is a fabulous idea. The kids spend hours and hours digging for
money that they are able to turn around and buy ice cream or 5 cent candies.
Kids are busy adults are happy

Beautiful scenery - poorly managed site. Several safety hazards for younger children; unsafe playground equipment etc.

Reviewer: Not provided on Sat 18 Jul 2009 rated 1 out of 10.

Poorly maintained, garbage not picked up,fire pits not cleaned out, grass poorly maintained and the wash house,I won't let my kids near it, gross!Staff has the attitude take it or leave.15 amp fuse for $30 a night,if you would like to use your air conditioner on a hot day it will trip the breaker every time. This could be a great campground if the right people were running it. The play ground equipment is a joke also.

No privacy - good for RVs but not for bonding with your family. Staff generally rude and unhelpful. Large amounts of noisy/destructive unsupervised children. Won't visit again.

Beautiful campground located on the river. Excellent customer service. Very kid friendly with lots to do. New wash house facility that is the best and cleanest wash house in any campground we have ever stayed. Our children can't wait to get back there and dig in money mountain.

not well maintained - kinda grungy & unclean - ok if there werent so many very nice campgrounds nearby!

Reviewer: Not provided on Thu 03 Jul 2008 rated 2 out of 10.

The campground is beautiful, the customer service is the worst I've ever experienced. Does not conduct themselves professionally. Apparently you can be turned away for looking too young (my husband & I are 25), despite the fact that we are a quiet nondrinking christian couple. I'm sure that if we had brought our daughter for our weekend getaway we would have been allowed to camp here.

Not what I expected - caters to families - as in large rvs. Great place to take the kids & let them scream, not the wilderness getaway I wanted to share with my sons.

it is a good place as long as you never become a seasonal!!!! The owners have different rules for seasonals...bring your own toilet paper, oh be quiet..find a different campground. The location is beautiful but the politics will just make you have a stupid year. Find some where else...

Positives: There are great campers

Negatives: The owners have their own set of rules that change depending on if they like you or not
