This is a camp ground run by the Elks club of Barrhead. They are doing a very good job of updating the park while keeping it affordable for families.Whether camping there seasonly or just for the weekend your family will enjoy themselves. The washrooms and showers are kept very clean. There is a new playground on the beach for the kids as well as new docks installed just 2 years ago. There is a mini golf as well as store for your convenience. There is day camping for a very reasonable price and the new staff is great!
Positives: Clean and affordable.Well operated.
Negatives: Boat launch is a little dicey but they are working at improving it.

Well first time going to elks beach. Did what everyone else would do before going to a new lake. Called to make sure there is day use to check it out before camping there. Lady on phone told us it would be $5.00 for the day. This was great we packed up the child and the boat and headed out to the lake for the day. As we arrive at the lake 2 hours later we were told that there is no day use at this campground. We told the lady at the desk that we had call ahead of time to make sure and that we wanted to check out the lake before camping there. She told us the only way your getting in there is if you know someone or if you are going to be camping. They have no access to a public washroom for our children that needed to go. This was a very bad experience, but to top it off we when to the little store down the road offer to buy something and they still would not let our children use the bathroom. They told us to use the bathroom at elks beach in the day use area??? What kind of place is this. I would not go here again if it was the last place on this earth.
Positives: nothing
Negatives: rude, wrong information when called and the place looked like a jammed packed mess. Dogs and cats running around everywhere and I'm a pet lover having 2 cats and 2 dogs. It looked like a dangers place anyways.

We stumbled on this campground when we were desperate to find a place for the July long weekend. Luckily for us, someone had cancelled their spot and we were able to reserve a spot with power. There are two areas that are open for casual weekend campers, while the majority of the sites are permanent sites, almost like a little camper village. The two bathrooms were extraordinarily clean, and there were many garbage cans and clean outhouses available.
Positives: The hosts were amazing - very helpful, and they regulated the campground well so that noise and interruptions were non-existent. They hosted games and events and fireworks for Canada day. We enjoyed the mini-golf, the playground is very nice for children, and the store had a good amount of essential supplies. Owners of dogs will find themselves at home due to the multitude of dogs brought by campers.
Negatives: The lake is currently not fit for swimming due to the algae.

I've been going there for 15 years this summer, used to be with my parents & sisters & now with my husband & daughter. Lots has changed & lots has remained the same. The people that run it now are the best of my time! The campsite is clean there is fun events & there is always the train rides that I used to love & my 3 year old loves now. It's a great place for family & friends. Our home away from home in the summer months.

I used to camp here in the 70s/80s with my parents and sister. Many great memories had here, revisited the site in June 2005 and walked in all the spots that I used to walk when I was a kid. Great campground!!!
