This past weekend I had the misfortune of staying at the Clarion Hotel at 2100 de Maisonneuve Montreal, QC. My experience was so terrible I believe that it is important for other travelers to be aware of the horrible conditions I experienced and the incompetent staff I had to deal with during my stay. When we were waiting we discovered that the room we were given was not only too small, but also did not have electricity. After calling front desk, someone from maintenance came to the room. We tried to explain the problem, but he could not speak either French or English. After flipping the light switches he mumbled, no power me back, shrugged his shoulders. He left and didnt come back. We complained again, to no avail. After sitting in the dark for about an hour we were finally given a new room. This room did not have two double beds, but it had a bed and a sofa bed and was apparently the last room available in the hotel. Conceding that it was better than a single bed we agreed to take it for the night. When we arrived in the room it was filthy, musty, and stinky. The walls had grime on it, the floor had chip crumbs, the sheets had holes, there were no pillows, and the bathroom was moldy and in disrepair. The sofa bed had no support and it was more comfortable to put the mattress on the floor. Since it was all that was available we made due and had an uncomfortable night. The next day, we complained again and changed to a new room that actually had two double beds, was fairly clean, and did not smell. Unfortunately it did not have face cloths, and when we asked for them they never came. We called three times to get face cloths, but our request was ignored. Finally, an hour and a half later, someone came with a bath towel. But they could not speak English or French and did not understand us when we said that it wasnt what we needed. When I checked out the next day, I had to wait an hour since the hotel staff was slow and did not have an automatic check out system like most major hotels use. Regardless, we needed to talk to the staff because there was a card in the room that stated that if we were not satisfied with our stay we were entitled to a free night stay. When I finally got to check out, I asked the clerk for the discount and he laughed at me! The Clarion Hotel was by far the worst hotel Ive ever stayed at and I cannot in good conscience recommend that anyone stay at this hotel unless they want to ruin their stay in the beautiful city of Montreal.
Positives: It had a decent location.
Negatives: This is by far the worst hotel I've ever stayed at.

The Clarion hotel at this location was good and the fact that it had a parking garage was a bonus. My traveling companions and I did not need room service during our 2 night stay, but the reception staff was very polite and efficient. I highly recommend.
Positives: Convenient location and amazing rooms, easy & reliable wireless accommodations.
Negatives: The parking garage was too tight to navigate easily.

The location is great, just one block away from St Catherine Ave, and it's at an affordable rate. They have kitchens equipped with stove, fridge and drink glasses, so if u want to buy and store your own food and liquor it's perfect. There are only two elevators and they run kind of slow, so expect a 2-3 min wait. Other than that, it was an all around decent hotel.
Positives: The kitchen was an excellent idea.
Negatives: The shades wouldn't close all the way.

It is definitely not a 4 star. For some reason the ceilings were lower in different areas of the room. In the shower I hit a ceiling tile when lifting my arms. The staff were quite friendly, however I do think they were understaffed for the amount of clients in the hotel on the dates I went. having a balcony was nice. The rooms were clean although there seemed to be water coming up through the floor after anyone took a shower (I checked it out it wasn't a leak from the shower) Seemed to seep up through the ceramic floor tiles even after wiping it up. The speed of the elevators was completely annoying. The hotel was full for the weekend and although there were many groups with numerous rooms booked the noise level in our room from the halls etc. was minimum.
Positives: I liked the price for the location. Staff were friendly.
Negatives: Check in/out took an hour each time in line (short staffed?) Elevator had long wait times.

Nice, basic hotel. Good size room and basic amenities. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Biggest problem was noise level at night - street noise was terrible and some groups at the hotel started partying after 3a (after the bars closed).
Positives: Good location - could walk to restaurants, bars, shopping.
Negatives: Very noisy - room was on the street side of the building and lots of partying going on, starting at 3am.

Junior suite room very well equipped. Nice view. Parking was full but indoor lot two blocks away fairly convenient and safe. Not really convenient to downtown and old city but easy walk to metro. Good value for rate would stay again.
Positives: Excellent view from 23rd floor on the city side.
Negatives: Public spaces cramped. Not enough elevator capacity.

Overall an excellent hotel, in a good location and very good value. The room was great, with great facilities. My only negative comment would be about the elevators that were very slow and unreliable, so that most of the time it was easier to walk up the stairs to my fifth floor room. Otherwise a great place.
Positives: Excellent room facilities.
Negatives: Elevators were slow and somewhat unreliable.

The stay at the hotel was comfortable. My only complaints were there was no overnight parking at the hotel and the wait for an elevator was sometimes long as there were only 2 elevators.
Positives: I liked the executive suite that includes a small kitchen.
Negatives: There was no overnight parking at the hotel and we had to park 2-3 blocks from the hotel.

Overall an average stay at best, but it's not entirely the hotel's fault. There was construction going on constantly and I was awoken early every single day of my stay with the exception of Sunday. Also we were without water for about 2 hours on one of the days. The hotel staff was friendly but slow. I don't think it's their fault, they are just understaffed. This hotel was definitely not worth the price I paid for it. On a positive note, the staff was nice people and this hotel is in a great location. The internet is wireless and free and the parking is cheap for where we stayed. They should try to renovate the garage though. I drive an SUV and was on eggshells going through that garage.
Positives: Location, free internet, and cheaper parking.
Negatives: Hotel is understaffed; parking garage is way too tight.

I would give this hotel 2 star. Request for extra pillows or towels took a day or so to get.
Positives: Room was clean, staff was courteous and efficient.
Negatives: Elevators were limited; facilities were not in working condition. Location of the hotel not in the nicest neighborhood.

Hotel could not provide a room with two beds. Not enough elevators and waiting in lobby for ages to get to room on 17th floor. Will not stay there again.
Positives: Relatively good location.
Negatives: Not enough lifts, took ages to get to desired floor.
