There are many small friendly communities rich in history, snuggled warmly in the arms of the Kawarthas. You can dine out tasting a variety of cuisine from hamburgers to Chinese food and everything in between. Or, you can cruise to an out of the way place and weigh anchor for the night.

Take your houseboat through the world-famous Peterborough Lift Locks. Glide under the fireworks at the Festival of Lights. You're the Captain and it's your call. .

Houseboat was in a poor state of repair which unfortunately was not apparent until we were several hours away from the R & R marina. Several screens were missing. The BBQ did not work properly. We ran out of propane. The bathroom smelled horrible and no matter how much water we put down the toilet we couldn't get rid of the odour. We had to have a battery replaced which cost us half a day of our vacation. The boat was extremely underpowered and difficult to maneuver. We also ran into other house boaters who had similar bad experiences with R & R.

Negatives: They also billed my credit card for an additional $180.00 with no explanation.
