The restaurant was good, but the portions for the price were very small. The room was very comfortable and the bed was amazingly comfortable.
Positives: Very comfortable bed!
Negatives: Had to pay for parking.
Reviewer: Not provided on Tue 06 Dec 2011 rated 10 out of 10.
Great location and service.
Positives: Service. Starbucks in the lobby.
Negatives: Underground parking was like a maze. Difficult to find your way around.

Solid downtown hotel--the lobby appears to have been recently renovated. The rooms were clean and well maintained with some small-scale renovations it seems at the bathroom area. However, the decor and furniture could use a renovation and/or updating to bring it up to a true 4* hotel. However, would stay here again.
Positives: Great location at a solid downtown hotel.
Negatives: Rooms, although clean and well-maintained, could do with a renovation.

Great location, friendly staff, nice lobby bar and Starbucks.
Positives: Check-in process took less than 1 minute.
Negatives: Nothing wrong with the hotel.

This hotel was a great hotel despite the lobby being under construction. The revolving restaurant is a nice touch and we had a corner room on the 12th floor which was an awesome view.
Positives: Very nice rooms, unique restaurant and
Negatives: It was under construction which I was not aware of when booking.

We have gone to this hotel several times in the past years, and I have to say, it is one of my favorites by far.
Positives: The bed and the food.
Negatives: Renovations

Staff were very friendly, loved the rooms, and very happy.
Positives: Teen play room and kids play room/pool (but pool a little too cold).
Negatives: Hotel lobby under renovations, and no access to lower restaurants/lobby ambiance.

In general, we had a really pleasant stay at the Marriott Ottawa. The only problem we encountered was the current renovation they're having. The lobby has become significantly smaller, and the weekend we're there, there are a number of weddings going too. Thus, it was extremely busy at the lobby and with the elevators.
Positives: Its comfort and its great location and service.
Negatives: The hotel is currently under renovation, so it was a bit unorganized.

When we got to the hotel and negotiated the lobby renovation, we found a long line waiting to 1) register, which went OK, and 2) waiting for the one elevator that was working. Large 20+ storey hotel, fully booked and one elevator. We asked about where the stairs were for our 11th floor room and were rudely told they were for staff/emergencies only. We went downstairs, found the stairs and took them anyways, so we didn't have to wait an hour for an elevator. Otherwise, staff was helpful, but I am glad I got a deal on Priceline. If I had paid full price I would not have been happy. We counted it as an adventure. Otherwise great weekend. Decent hotel.
Positives: The room was adequate and comfortable.
Negatives: The lobby renovation really affects the quality and the experience of staying here.

Overall I'm very satisfied with the selection and the location. The Hotel staff were very accommodating and friendly.
Positives: Perfect location and great people.
Negatives: Some construction was happening at the time of my visit.

I would have rather paid a bit more and stayed at the Westin. This hotel has no spark or something that makes one want to stay and relax. My family, including my children (7 and 9) tried to make sure we were out in order to stay out of the room as it was so basic, especially the bathroom. The carpets looked dirty and stained, so I made sure my kids always had on their flip flops.
Positives: Close to War Musuem.
Negatives: Did not like bathroom, layout of room, ambiance.

Overall, this was the best
I have stayed in Ottawa.
Positives: Very friendly, clean, very good price.
Negatives: Parking was expensive restaurant also expensive.

Room was way to small for 2 beds, High Speed internet more like the speed of dial up, pool had garbage and bandages in it, no room service after 10pm, breakfast was cold, bathroom two small for 2 people, 4 cracks in the tub, window only open an inch, worst hotel ever.
Positives: I cant, worst hotel ever.
Negatives: Need more room to list these 20 words to describe all the horrible things about this dive.

While advertised as a 4 star hotel, travelers should have been notified of the construction in progress, and so some of amenities not available.
Positives: Location.
Negatives: Half of lobby closed off and only 1 restaurant open, no business centre.

Clean and comfortable room even for family. Good location and convenient valet parking.
Positives: Refrigerator was in the room, good for family stay.
Negatives: Wireless Internet costed $10, but could not access to web mail.

The hotel is located near the parliament house, walking distance from the market, in a nice zone. Has direct access to the parking, it is a fee involved, but all does. The rooms and bathroom are very small, but if you are traveling alone or whit 1 partner, I guess is ok. They are restoring the cafeteria and lobby, so, for now they are saving breakfast on the roof top Restaurant, and it is a great view. At night the restaurant moves, so you can take a 360° view of the city.
Positives: Great location, great over the top restaurant, lot of near by services.
Negatives: The room and bathrooms are small, the towels were worn.

Overall I have a very nice experience with my friends, we never expected to have such a good view from our room, it's awesome skyline at night. However the valet parking is a bit turn off as there were not enough employees working and my car got scratched on the left hand side. I'm certain it's from the valet parking, as the marks were not there when I first dropped off the car, and they were there after I first picked up my car again from valet. I didn't complain to them in there since it says on the valet card that they are not responsible on any damages, I didn't want to get into arguments and ruined my mood during my vacations. But yes, that needs to be improved. It's obvious that they might have accidentally rubbed the left side of my car to a post or something in the parking lot. Except that part, everything was perfect, room service was great, everyone's nice and professional.
Positives: It's cozy and the view from high floor is just so great (facing parliament).
Negatives: Valet parking needs more employees, and my car was scratched.

I was there for one night only, but was well pleased with the room and it's decor. Very clean and room service very prompt.
Positives: The king room was very comfortable and the bed was heavenly.
Negatives: The bathroom was a little small and the light switch was by the entrance instead of by the bathroom.

Hotel very nice with appropriate amenities for rating, but parking experience was very poor (unable to locate parking lot at
11 PM without actual staff help in car giving directions). Room key did not work with pool door.
Positives: Nice amenities.
Negatives: Parking experience was terrible.

The hotel room was comfortable and the window actually opened, very nice feature. The staff were the highlight though, they were fun and helpful. We parked in the underground parking lot, it was $17 per day when you park without valet, however, it is a low garage - check your clearance first if you have a pick-up. I would definitely stay here again.
Positives: The hotel is in the process of being renovated. The new furnishings are beautiful and the bed is super comfortable.
Negatives: We were on an upper floor and the ventilation did not work well - the room was too warm. The front desk kindly relocated us for our second night.

Personnel gave us excellent advice throughout our stay, regular reliable Marriott rooms, good atmosphere at the restaurant (have the chicken crisps for an appetizer, they are worth the $10). My only complaints were the pool area. Not only was the pool small, but no hot tub/Jacuzzi? Also, the changing rooms were under construction during our stay and we would have liked a mini fridge in the room.
Positives: Good location, customer service +, usual Marriott.
Negatives: No hot tub, small pool, no mini fridge in room?

Good location, you can walk to most things in Ottawa. Rooms are smaller and a bit noisy. washroom is like a closet and in need of a renovation. Minimal staff on duty when I was there (Sunday night), I guess that is justifiable.
Positives: Location.
Negatives: Small rooms, needs an update.

We travel to Ottawa a couple of times a year and usually like to stay in the marketplace area for convenience to night life. Booked through Priceline a got the Marriott Downtown. I called the hotel to see if we could get moved to the Courtyard Marriott but it was booked. We were apprehensive but were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. We were first put in a room right next to five elevators but the staff quickly met our request to move further down the hall. All in all a pleasant experience.

Positives: It was clean and the rooms were in good condition.
Negatives: Pool area is a little cramped - not particularly inviting.

I suggest that Marriott install free wireless internet in the rooms as this is a standard in most hotels that I have stayed in and especially for a 4 star hotel. The chairs and sofas in the lobby is old and needs to be replaced. The beds were very comfortable in the room but the bathroom was pretty old for a 4 star.
Positives: Comfortable bed.
Negatives: Had to go the lobby for free internet.

Nice hotel.Pool was closed for two days due to clorine problem???Parking was a little pricey and out of the way.Restaurants very pricey and not kid friendly. But the guy at the desk ordered a great pizza for us one nite
Positives: very clean and staff very helpful
Negatives: Staff could not figure out that for four people in the room they needed to supply more cups , coffee ,efx

Excellent location. Amazing family play rooms. Pool and gym seemed wonderful. Staff was very helpful.
Positives: The family play rooms were amazing and gave us the down time needed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Negatives: Pool not working when arrived; offered access to pool at adjacent facility, but the timing didn't work out for us. Not their fault.

Overall, nice, but does it deserve a 4 star? Not sure about that.
Positives: Convenient.
Negatives: Ugly lobby and not great rooms for a 4 star hotel.

have stayed in about 20 marriot's in north america. This one by far is the worst of the lot. The room I got was the same as run of the mill 2 star hotels yet this Marriot is trying to pass as a 4 star. Not even close!
Positives: good location downtown.
Negatives: the room is a closet. you can barely walk in it.

I would recommend the Marriott Hotel. The staff was very friendly. The room was very comfortable and spacious.
Positives: Friendly staff and convenient location. Clean and comfortable rooms.
Negatives: No fan in the bathroom.

Was shocked that the rooms did not have free internet access nor a fridge. Was very disappointing, although staff made an effort to put us in a room with a fridge in the end.
Positives: The bed was very comfortable.
Negatives: There was no free internet access.

We stayed 3 nights at the hotel, July 20-23rd. Great location and most of the staff was very good. Hotel is very clean and comfortable. But, we did have an unacceptable experience in 29th floor, rotating gourmet restaurant. The 6 of us went up with most wanting to order the advertised Rack of Lamb on menu. A menu also pasted on bottom floor and Rack of Lamb also advertised in the rooms. Upon sitting, ordering drinks, getting drinks and then trying to order the waiter immediately explains that the Rack of Lamb is not really a Rack of Lamb, but 2 lamb chops. Strange, we have had Rack of Lamb in many restaurants, including Montreal 3 days before (Queen Elizabeth Hotel) and always got Rack of Lamb as globally known. The waiter was ready to tell us that it was not what menu said! This, after we were sipping drinks. Question is: Why doesn't someone clarify the menu? Must happen frequently! Mentioned it to Marriot and got reply from manager that it was a communication issue. I'm not sure I liked that answer even though they did offer us free breakfast for the inconvenience and selection of other items we did not like. Otherwise a good place to stay.
Positives: Location, cleanliness, and staff.
Negatives: Misleading menu, over-rated food at top floor.
