Hotel Bedford is a comfortable hotel. We stayed there in 2002 as did my parents in the 1940's. Ah! Nostalgia. Only problem is that you need to be fit as there are no lifts (or elevators)and you can be puffed out carrying your cases up three flights of stairs. The continental breakfast is so basic it is virtually non existant. One renowned chef said beware a restaurant that offers too many choices as very often it will be crap. He was right, the food at Paddy O'neils was stodgy, but the locals must like it that way as it was the same in 2002. For our second meal we drove to nearby Bayfield and had a fantastic meal at Da Vinci and also at a reasonable price.
Positives: Clean comfortable rooms. Nice friendly people in this pretty little town with a great beach on Lake Huron
Negatives: Poor service and stodgy food at Paddy O'Neils. Fortunately there are other good restaurants in the town, but check closing times.

I had to put a chair against the door because I did not feel safe, really no lock at all on the door. The restaurant attached food was great. Lady on the desk - horrible and they charge extra night for hockey teams so if the team is done in 2 days they charge you 3 - even if the hotel is full

I found the hotel to be quaint and friendly. Room was comfortable and well-kept. I would definitely stay at this hotel when visiting the area.
The only drawback was there's no elevator. If you have heavy luggage, you'll have to haul it up one or two flights of stairs.
Located in the center of town and the beach is close by.
