We decided to stay a second time, even after our bad first experience, becuase there are very few other hotels in the area. We booked well ahead, even had room numbers guaranteed by email ... all set.
We arrive tired after a full day of work only to find that we had been erased from the book and there was no place for us to stay. The staff even told us that the boss does this all the time - "he likes the hydro and construction guys 'cause they don't care where they stay" - so there we were with no place to stay and two more nights in the district. Next time we will stay al ot farther away where they will at east guarantee that we will have a place when we get there. This is a dispicable way to treat any customer. And word will get out. The townspeople have told me a few times that it is very difficult for the owner to get locals to work for him because of his habits and attitude toward them.
Positives: Not one.
Negatives: Unreliable bookings - both times. Surly owner who wants to do almost nothing and still take the most money possible. Untrustworthy with regard to bookings (both times I stayed). Last time round I had cold water for two whole days and a lot of promises that the plumber was coming soon- what the heck is that? Finally got some hot water late in the evening of the second night, after taking my log of half-hourly water temperature checks to the owner and threatening to make an official complaint. Just think - running a restaurant and dishwasher with no hot water for two days? OMG!!

Cold water for two days. Guarnateed one room and it was given away. Owner terse and defensive all the time.

Negatives: Place sucks.
No reservation is actually guaranteed. not worth a quarter of what you pay.
