Iona is a small community in Nova Scotia, located in Victoria County on Cape Breton Island. Perched above the Barra Strait between the Great Bras d'Or and Piper's Cove portions of Bras d'Or Lake, Iona is the western terminus of the Barra Strait Bridge carrying Nova Scotia Route 223 across to Grand Narrows village. Iona was settled by Gaelic speaking immigrants from the Isle of Barra in 1802. It is the home of Highland Village Museum, a part of the provincial Nova Scotia Museum system featuring living history exhibits of the Gaelic settlement experience in Nova Scotia. Local restaurants include Frolic And Folk Pub And Grill, Clean Wave Restaurant, Herring Choker Deli, and Lakeside Restaurant At Inverary Resort Baddeck.

Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site
Located at PO Box 159. A unique exhibit complex where models, replicas, photo displays, artifacts, and films describe the fascinating life and work of Alexander Graham Bell. Special events such as Harvest Home complement the offering of activities on this site, situated on 10 hectares of landscaped grounds overlooking scenic Bras d'Or Lake and Baddeck Bay.
Nova Scotia Highland Village
Located at 4119 Highway 223. The Nova Scotia Highland Village is a non-profit Society with the mission: to protect, interpret and further the collection of buildings and artifacts at the Nova Scotia Highland Village site in Iona; and to preserve and promote the Scottish Highland and Island culture as found in Nova Scotia. It is without doubt that the Highland Village would not be where it is today without the dedication, stubbornness, and dedication of the many volunteers and members of the Society.
