Atikokan is a township in the District of Rainy River in Northwestern Ontario. The town is known locally as the "Canoeing Capital of Canada" and is one of the main points of entry into canoeing destination Quetico Provincial Park. Atikokan was originally established as a rail stop for the Canadian Northern Railway.
