far from a 4 star 'resort'!! more like a grade A hovel. dirty dark cabins with mismatched broken furniture and rags for towels. overall gross but DON'T complain because the staff/owners DO NOT care. avoid this place.

I would never ever go back there,not as ststed on the website. Would never reccomend it to anyone, the worst place i have ever stayed in.overpriced,downright nasty staff.

After visiting the resort's website, I was very excited about our upcoming weekend getaway. After the fact, I sooo wish I had reviewed other customer comments. I have a number of beefs I'd like to tell you all about before you choose to have a 'holiday' here. Number one, make sure to ask for company policies, and their so called 'contract' upfront. You might be surprised with the loads of 'crap' they like to control. Also, once they have your credit card for the deposit, they will freely use it without your notification (ie full payment due 2 weeks prior to arrival, they just charged without calling me). Also, I received 3 different invoices, ALL of which were incorrect. Appears they have very unsound accounting practices or unqualified personnel doing billing. If you HAVE to or choose to stay here - stay clear of the cabins ... they are very small, dirty, and dark. I cannot say for other accommodations, I was not in them, but would never recommend the cabins to anyone. The children really loved the playground and the pool, these are great. When it comes to the on site staff, and the owner ... well ... in my opinion they are an embarrassment to NL Hospitality and to the tourism industry in general. They are VERY RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL & IGNORANT. When I approached them with some of my concerns (really just as a FYI), the owner was very intimidating, overpowering and would not even let me speak. I was quite disappointed, to say the least. There are many beautiful places and people all across this island, don't be fooled by this company's website. Shop around!

July 2012 - Buyer Beware! Once they have your money they have you over a barrel and the owners truly DO NOT care about customer service. Apparently they missed that part of the Customer Service for Dummies Course. The owner and some of the staff are painfully rude unless you are bowing down and agreeing with them. No matter what kind of poor service you might receive you will get no apology and certainly no discount. The best thing to do would be to avoid this place completely which is a shame as the location and some of the amenities are awesome. If the owner was never there it would be a vast improvement

The physical space is lovely, but with the shabby and nasty way the staff (particularly the lady who owns the joint, and i use the word "lady" very loosely) it would have been much nicer to sleep on a pile of composte. I thought the point of booking a vacation in the woods was to kick back, relax, have a drink, eat lots, listen to music, and enjoy your loved ones. Apparently, $200-$300 a night buys you insults and zero customer service. The woman who runs this place should find a job where she NEVER gets to talk to people (which is probably her everyday life because there is no way she has any friends). Nice grounds (cabins are dirty) but the staff make is an expensive weekend mistake. Don't go.

This was our second time coming to Pinetree (almost a year to the day!). The first time was OK, but we love Traytown. This time was horrible. I could overlook the dirty cabin if we were treated well. They charged my credit card before I even got there, so I guess they felt they could treat us however they wanted. The owner (a medium height top heavy lady) snapped at us for asking for more towels, basically implied that I was going to steal them. The male owner practically lurked around all weekend smoking his pipe which was disgusting since I am allergic to smoke, and when i asked him not to smoke it around me, he ignored me. Never go here. They are rude people.

HORRIBLE staff. Extremely RUDE owners. Made our trip miserable. Clearly customer service is NOT a priority at this so called "resort." 4 stars indeed.... 2 stars would be generous. Avoid at all costs!!

Positives: location and some nice amenities like the pool. Local people are friendly and know the owners are very difficult to deal with as they hear it all the time apparently.

I'd rather sleep in my car than stay at these cabins again. Who ever takes reservations is one of the rudist people I have dealt with, I should have taken that as a warning.
The cabins look nice from the outside, but the floor would have been more comfortable than the bed and good luck getting a steam of hot water strong enough to wash your hands never mind taking a shower.
The furnishings are more like my university apartment, when I couldn't afford to have matching anything, but I didn't have mice in my apartment, which is why I slept on the lumpy mattress than the floor(didn't want to wake up in the middle of the night with a mouse nibbling on my nose).
Until they get new management who acutally cares about their customers, I would stay as far away from this place as possible.

It's like their website is for another property...

This place was filthy, uncomfortable, shabby, and arguably employs the rudest staff in the entire Canadian hospitality industry.

The town is very nice, the locals are friendly, and even they all laugh and agree that the owner of this place is a very difficult fellow, and they would never recommend anybody stay here.

Positives: The town is beautiful.

Negatives: All of them. Seriously. I'd rather sleep in a dumpster... it would likely smell better.

This place is WAY, WAY, WAY overpriced... and DIRTY. I had a much better stay at Penney Brook Cottages in Glovertown.

Positives: The area is beautiful.The pool was nice and the craft hour for kids was great.

Negatives: Dirty, smelly, and overpriced. Will never go back. Have no idea how they managed to rack up the stars.

i was intrigued to see these recent reviews and as a CFA i thought i would add my opinion. i stayed there a couple of years back and i must say my experience seems to match the majority on here. bad staff/owners (not sure who was who), dirty cabins, way overpriced. even the picturesque location can't make up for it. just bad and should be avoided. there are lots of b&b's around to stay in. the pool and playground aren't enough to make up for the cruddy rooms and way the paying customer is treated.

Positives: none other than pretty NL sights outside this place.

Negatives: everything about this place.

Very surprising, given how nice the website is... this is not a friendly place to stay.
