James Avenue Pumphouse ( / Tapas ). Built in 1906 to help fight the frequent fires of downtown Winnipeg, the James Avenue Pumping Station drew water from the Red River for distribution to the area’s fire hydrants. The building was declared a municipal heritage site in 1982.

King’s Head Pub ( Dining / Pubs / Bars ). Located at 120 King Street, Winnipeg. King’s Head first started off as a 40 seat pub with only 6 beers on tap and over the years expanded to its current capacity of 400 seats plus an outdoor patio. For much of the 20th Century, the “Pump and Screen House” building, provided water coolant to Winnipeg’s Downtown Steam Heating Plant.
