Virden is a town in southwestern Manitoba located along the Transcanada Highway. The region has several groomed snowmobile trails and a number of golf courses. Nearby Oak Lake is known locally for it’s summer and winter fishing activities. Oil was first discovered in 1951, and Virden has since come to be known as the "Oil Capital of Manitoba".
