Lillooet is a small but historic and highly scenic community on the Fraser River in western Canada, about 240 kilometres up the British Columbia Railway line from Vancouver. Situated at an intersection of deep gorges in the lee of the Coast Mountains, it has an extremely arid climate - 400mm of precipitation is recorded annually at the town's weather station, although nearby microclimates receive less than 50mm (2 inches) of precipitation over small patches of benchland flanking the river adjacent to town. Lillooet has a long growing season, and once had prolific market gardens and orchard produce. It often experiences extremely hot summers often breaking 40C and it vies with nearby Lytton for the title of "Canada's Hot Spot." Places to eat in the region include Gold Panner Restaurant Lilooet, The Prospector, Dina's Place, and Lillooet Inn Restaurant.

Wondering where to stay? Lodging options in the community are mainly limited to Bed and Breakfast type accommodations, though there are a few nearby hotels. If you are travelling in the area, Lillooet is located close to Felix Creek, Burkholder Lake, Porcupine Creek, Réserve indienne Fountain Creek 8 and MacLaren Creek.
