Originally named Wawa City after the lake that nestles it and the Ojibway First Nation's word for Big Goose, Wawa is located along route 17 and the impressive coast of Lake Superior, Ontario. It is surrounded by some of the most beautiful Provincial Parks in the region. The township was previously known as Michipicoten.
