Grand-Pré is a rural community in Kings County, Nova Scotia. Its French name translates to "Great/Large Meadow" and the community lies at the eastern edge of the Annapolis Valley several kilometres east of the town of Wolfville on a peninsula jutting into the Minas Basin surrounded by extensive dyked farm fields, framed by the Gaspereau and Cornwallis Rivers. The community was made famous by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem Evangeline and is today home to the Grand-Pré National Historic Site. On The Verge ( Dining / Fine ). Often described as “local fusion cuisine”, flavours and techniques from around the globe are married with locally produced food to create a unique dining experience. Chef Jeff MacLean infuses food with passion, often creating new dishes as inspiration strikes. The food is exceptional. On The Verge features a beautiful open kitchen with a sit-down bar overlooking the action. The atmosphere of the restaurant is best described as classy, yet relaxed. In the warmer months enjoy our large, luxurious patio (the biggest and quietest in town). Featuring live music on an almost nightly basis, On The Verge is establishing a reputation among the best music venues in Atlantic Canada. Reservations are highly recommended for dining and are available until 9:00pm. After 9:00pm we do not take reservations.
