Negatives: COLD room, rude staff, no functioning smoke alarm
If you want to sleep in a warm, safe room - DON'T STAY HERE! We arrived on a chilly November night at about 9:00 PM. It was 5 degrees (Celsius) outside, and it was 5 degrees in our room! We called the front desk and asked if he had a warmer room. He said no, just turn on the heat it would warm up in 15 minutes. We waited 45 minutes and the room was STILL 5 degrees.
During our wait, we noticed the smoke alarm didn't work - you know how it beeps when the battery dies? We brought the smoke alarm to the front desk and the clerk took the smoke alarm - didn't replace the battery or the smoke alarm. The clerk came to the room - in his nice warm jacket - and said the room was fine. We showed him the thermostat, reading 5 degrees, and he said it was broken - it wasn't really 5 degrees in the room. Yeah - right! Like he would know standing there in his nice warm jacket. We asked for our money back so we could go to another hotel with warm rooms and the clerk refused - very rudely! He said it wasn't like we paid $100 for the room . . . oh wait, YES WE DID! He offered us a $10 discount - like that would make the room safer or warmer! The room did eventually warm up - around midnight - but we still had to sleep in a room without a functioning smoke alarm. In the morning, the thermostat read 15 degrees, so it certainly wasn't broken, the room just never got very warm. Over all, the experience left a lot to be desired. The clerk was rude and really didn't care and I can't understand why a hotel would turn the heat off in all the rooms on a cold night! Oh yes, they supposed offer CAA discounts, which I did not receive, even though I asked and have a CAA membership!
