Positives: 10 minute walk to Ganges
Negatives: The campsite is a field
The manager made our stay very uncomfortable
Comments: This was the worst experience I've ever had camping. Salt Spring Island is beautiful but Ganges is just an open field and the guy running the campground will make your stay miserable. We had a small coal fire with a few sticks burning in the base of an outdoor stove/bbq and he was upset that we were burning sticks so we put it out immediately. (This was allowed at our other campsite so we had no idea it was an issue) He was drunk and preceded to yell at us for 10 minutes and wanted to kick us out, but we calmed him down and thought that was the end of it. The next night some of the other campers let us know that he came up to them and said if we had another fire he was going to come over and get 'really aggressive' with us. We obviously did not burn anything other than coals the second night. He then calls me 2 days after we left the campsite because someone stole a bike from his campground and he was trying to figure out who it was. He assumed it was someone with us and when i had no information for him he started yelling at me again about the fire and started ranting that we had another fire the second night when we did not. He then said he had our licence plate number and was calling the police on us and hung up on me. This put a real sour taste in my mouth and is the reason I am posting this review. Go to Salt Spring Island, it is amazing, but stay away from Ganges Campground, it's not worth the drama.
