Positives: Liked the location, close to farmers market, liquor store, grocery store, restaurants, waterfront. Liked the main lobby and well dressed staff.
Negatives: Extra fee for internet, most places do not charge!! self parking to expensive.
Comments: Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the Westin. Great location and good staff. Although, the Priceline cost was a great deal.

Positives: It was nice.
Negatives: The hotel staff.
The hotel is very nice, however, when we were going to bed we could smell cigarette smoke, which was coming from the room next to ours. Not only were the guest in the room next to ours smoking in their room they were extremely loud, did I mention it was one in the morning. We called the front desk and decided to wait a bit to see if the problem would be resolved quickly, however this did not occur.
<BR/>. We had to call a second time at two in the morning and finally the front desk sent security.

Positives: Location, spacious, clean, and free parking.
Negatives: Pool facilities are dated.
Comments: More than adequate. Room small, but clean & comfortable. Free parking in excellent location. Pool/ whirlpool could use some updating/ freshening up. Very friendly staff.

Positives: Staff very helpful.
Negatives: Christmas time, I was booked into a room that was next to a suite of rooms -- loud late parties.
Comments: Great staff, nice facility and no complaints.

Positives: The young man at the bar/dining area who was from the Niagra area and really knew his wine. He was friendly, not pushy.
Negatives: The parking kios was down and yet they charged to park there.
Comments: Near down town, Saturday Market and next to a grocery store and Tim's. Quiet and comfortable. Had a coffee machine and a fridge. Dog friendly.

Comments: Rooms very hot and uncomfortable no AC although it was December and it was a warm week for<BR/>December. Wonderful staff and very convenient location.

Positives: The location was great.
Negatives: The rooms was not clean ,wallpaper peeling, the bathroom was visibly soiled. Elevator didn't work part of stay.
Comments: Stayed at the westin , have stayed several times before. The location was great , staff were friendly and mostly helpful. When we checked in and went to our room, I was surprised to see that the bathroom appeared as thought, it had not even been cleaned. The sink was visibly soiled. The room itself although appeared updated , when you looked past the flat screen TV and nice lines you could see the wallpaper peeling and the moulding and finishes needed repair. The elevator wasn't working for a while during the stay and we had to climb 4 flights of stairs to get to our room , good exercise though.We had inquired prior to our stay about the offer of discounted tickets to the yuk yuk club located on the premises. We were told by hotel staff the tickets were half price, but when we called to book were told we had to pay full price. We were not impressed.

Comments: I would recommend this hotel for its proximity to Downtown Halifax, safe well lit parking, nice old feel atmosphere.

Positives: Great location for a great price.
Negatives: We were unable to get a king, but the 2 other rooms I booked got kings.
Comments: Hotel is old and therefore a bit quirky. We had gotten a room that had been smoked in so we had to switch.

Positives: Lobby is nice, starbucks is a nice touch.
Negatives: Paid parking, messy bed linens, dirty water glasses, fan not working in bathroom, no table to sit at in room to relax.
Dirty water glasses left in room. Looked like the maid just threw the pillows on the bed. Loud noises heard in hallway. Fan not working in the bathroom. Bathroom too small. Beds too small. The room did not seem fresh and welcoming.
<BR/>. Having to pay for breakfast and parking is an additional cost that is included in other hotels like Hampton Inn and Suites and Holiday Inn Express.

Positives: It has a very good proximity to amenities for young and old.
Negatives: Not a fan of the pay for parking situation. The lot is not secure and very crowded.
Comments: Overall,<BR/>I had a great experience, the staff that worked cleaning the rooms were very professional. Waitimes for elevators was lengthy at times, and my only thing<BR/>I would love to see is a breakfast bar of some kind. Traveling with three small kids the budget is tight and having some breakfast options, even continental would be great.

Negatives: We did not know what our stay gave us access to and what items available were extra charge. Nothing was even mentioned to us about where the pool was.
While the room was nice the service at the hotel was terrible. When we got there my partner and I were not explained about any features with our room such as the pool, where it was or if we even had access to it or the restaurant available or even where the elevator was. They even snickered at us when they saw us go the wrong way.
<BR/>. Furthermore, the neighbors were extremely loud at 2:30 in the morning.

Positives: Reception and valet personnel helpful and friendly, room very clean.
Negatives: Hallway carpets dirty, in serious need of cleaning, mattress in need of replacement.
Comments: Overall good experience. Concierge, although efficient, did not go beyond what was necessary to help with inquiries.

Comments: We stayed here for our wedding. They upgraded our room as we needed for our 2 year old and a regular sized room would be too small. We had a great stay at the Westin.

Positives: It's absolutely beautiful. Loved having our car brought to the front door.
Negatives: Brew your coffee in room was free and downstairs it was $4.50 for us.
Comments: It was fabulous. $4.50 for our coffees each day when it was free in our room to make, as you know you can't make your own coffee as good as someone else could. I know this is a very small thing, but I really like the small things. Coffee should be free for guest. Wonderful stay and would certainly stay again and again.

Positives: The front desk employees are very professional.
Negatives: The parking cost is $18.00 per day, it should be included in the price of the room.
Comments: The room was very comfortable, the linen of the beds were of a high quality. It is very quiet and I like the idea of a separate elevator for the guests who use the pool. I did not like to be charge for local calls.

Positives: When we lost power the hotel provided sandwiches and juices for everyone. That was nice.
Negatives: We could have gotten a bit of a discount because we lost all power for 9 hours.
Overall, we liked our stay at the Westin Nova Scotian and would like to stay there again some time. Thank You.

Positives: Updated, clean, attractive hotel with some complimentary shuttle service.
Negatives: Parking is now an additional $18.00; before it was free. It was and still is outside open air parking. Disappointing.
Comments: A very pleasant, inviting hotel, with historical references. One of the drawing cards was free parking, which was important as it is not centrally located. I have stayed here several times through Hotwire and always had a much larger room than this time.

Positives: Very good location.
Negatives: No bed in room.
Comments: I arrived at the hotel on Wednesday evening. Upon check in, I was told I had been booked in the "Vice regal sweet", which unfortunately only had a pull out coach for a bed. I was offered a roll away bed, which was essentially a cot, and was not better. I essentially did not sleep this night, and it really had a detrimental effect on my stay.

Positives: Access to the Boardwalk.
Negatives: Rooms were small - we were a bit cramped with 3 small children.
Comments: It is apparent they have tried to renovate the hotel to give it a more modern feel. The linens, decor, and style were welcoming, bright, and clean. We were traveling with 3 children (3 and under) - the rooms are cozy and felt quite cramped even with out boys sitting quietly watching television. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. If you prefer dark sleeping arrangements, the curtains do not block the light out completely. All in all, it was worth the bid we made on Priceline.

Positives: The location and friendly staff.
Negatives: The $2.50 "delivery charge" for room service.
Comments: The room (2 double beds) was very small. The bathroom and decoration in general is quite dated. It was very noisy (near our room anyway). Partying went on until at least 5am. Our "harbour view" was a window overlooking the roof of another section of the hotel on which rain water had pooled. The pool was very noisy, no towels left. The hot tub, while very hot, did not have the jets working. Also, it was cold in our room and when called we were told that the heat had been turned off for the season. I would not stay here again. Also, there is a $10 per day charge to access Internet in your room. I have not stayed at a hotel in a long time where I had to pay extra for Internet, especially not that amount, and not what I would expect from a "higher end" hotel.

Positives: I liked the price that I received by booking on priceline in an upscale hotel.
Negatives: I found the room small and the extra charge for wi-fi annoying.
Comments: Overall, a nice hotel but I would probably not book there again. Our room was quite small, it was a bit out of the way for downtown activities, overpriced for room extras like bottled water - $5.95 / bottle.

Comments: 1st impression upon entering was excellent. Our room though was small for a king bed and we seemed to be allergic to something because we both had red eyes for the 3 days we stayed. maybe the carpet floors were the cause or the room was home to a pet at one time. We enjoyed our stay though and would go back but would have more specific requests prior to arrival.

Positives: An attractive hotel with professional staff in an excellent location.
Negatives: For the amenities, it is unfortunate that one has to pay for wireless Internet; no airport shuttle either.
Comments: The staff was confident and professional, the rooms were clean, a number of amenities were available, though they charge for wireless Internet (disappointing). Easy access to a number of local attractions.

Positives: The Hotel Lobby is attractive and gives an appearance of a 4 star hotel.
Negatives: The rooms are old and noisey, the guest parking is horrible.
Comments: The last time that we stayed there when I phoned the front desk to complain about the noise they offered us ear plugs. This time when we were woke up at 5am I did not bother contacting the front desk so the noise continued until 7:30. I reported it to the front desk when I was checking out and they said that it must have been the guests in the room above us walking heavily.

Comments: Renovated older hotel near the waterfront in Halifax. Location is a mile or so from the active part of the waterfront – the shops, restaurants and casino. It is relatively quiet, has a tiny swimming pool, and charges extra ($18 per night) for parking and an additional charge for internet (haven’t seen that in a hotel for some time.) Staff is friendly and helpful.

Negatives: Unknowledgeable front desk staff. Lack of parking.
Comments: Didn't have a good experience at the hotel. There is a very limited parking on site and it is not free but when asked specifically about parking, front desk staff never mentioned anything about the $18 fee to park in their lot. If we had known,we could have parked on the street in front of the hotel for free (weekend). When we checked in, we received complimentary tickets to a comedy show for that evening, which was a very nice surprise.

Negatives: Paid parking excessive, front desk staff no so knowledgeable.
Comments: Checked in after 11pm, front desk clerk not as warm and fuzzy as he should be. Offered very little information. Unable to get the room we requested. Upon checkout, error made in our bill, when questioned the front desk clerk explained away the error as though it was not an error. We were overcharged by over $40. The invoice was corrected after a 2nd visit to the front desk. Corrected by a different front desk clerk, without issue.

Positives: The foyer was really nice.
Negatives: Room wasn't nice. The tub faucet leaked, wasn't clean and the bed was uncomfortable.
Comments: The hotel is nice. The rooms are a bit outdated and not roomy. Bathrooms need some refreshing. Beds are small and not comfortable. The staff was friendly.

Comments: A good place to stay. Our only disappointment was that the staff was not quick in responding to the hazard associated with the bed frame. The manager promised to take action when we reported it to him during check-out.

Positives: Friendly and accommodating staff. Excellent front desk, room service, maid service and restaurant wait staff. Incredibly comfortable beds.
Negatives: Would have preferred shallow entry steps into pool for children and or a small wading pool for them.
Comments: Have stayed here a few times now and each time is more enjoyable than the last. Have not had the time to enjoy all the amenities but those I did, I have no complaints about. Cannot say enough about the staff. The Green options are a great addition and really appreciated.

Positives: The staff; location; and comfortable bed.
Negatives: The room was dirty. The curtains were broken. The air control was broken.
Comments: Overall, the hotel is great. We've stayed there before via Priceline. However, the room we had this time was dirty. The fan switch for the air vent was broken, and the room was almost at 30 degrees and we couldn't cool it down. The curtains were broken along the top. The bathtub was dirty. And the room was very small compared to what we've had before. The first time we stayed at the Westin we had a fabulous room. Hopefully next time the room will be better.
