Northern Cross Resort Ltd.
Northern Cross Resort Ltd. is a campground located in Goodsoil. Northern Cross is a family oriented fishing and recreation resort with a wealth of natural attractions. Lac Des Iles, which is on the south edge of Canada's wild and uninhabited North Woods, offers everyone a chance to catch a big fish - kids have caught the biggest fish seven of the twenty years that we have been operating. Besides big pike, Lac Des Iles has trophy walleye and perch that can reach two pounds. If you have a float, canoe, dingy or small fishing boat the numerous nearby small and undeveloped lakes offer everyone a chance to experience a tranquil fish for pike, walleye, peach, lake trout and trout. However, not everyone enjoys fishing to the same degree, so at Northern Cross we provide facilities to keep the non-anglers and beach bums happy.

Positives: Nice lake.
Negatives: See review. I really have nothing good to say about this place.
Comments: I have given this place one star simply because I cannot give it a zero. We have rented a cabin here which is filthy and falling apart. Mould behind the sink. All the chairs are falling apart, it's scary to sit on any of them. For $200 a day!!!! The owners of this resort seem incapable of simple repairs or cleaning. Ridiculously expensive for a glorified shack of a place. The decks are falling apart. The campsites are horrible. This is basically a parking lot! Do not give these slum lords your money!!

Positives: Friendly lady in store - hand nice conc station about fishing spots.
Fishing off the 1 dock -lots of little bites and we pulled in a couple perch
Fishing boat rentals
Negatives: Dirty overall
Slow slow slow wifi
Bring your own life jackets if you're renting a boat. Dirty and smelly
Gross bathroom and showers.
Sand In the sites gets EVERYWHERE!!!
NOT what we were expecting! An utter disappointment. First of all the campsites area sand - no gravel and VERY little grass. Rough roads and difficult to maneuver Into stalls (we had to back in between two trees-not an easy task even for an experienced trailer driver). Dirty sites - wrappers, peanut shells, cigarette butts, and garbage in the verny open sites. No privacy at all between sites and cabins.
Showers and bathrooms wearer filthy! But you can clean your own toilet before using it with the handy toilet brushes in the bathroom (wonder if that is intentional?) scum all over the showers and walls, along with holes in the drywall.
Broken playground equipment -which is plastic 'Little Tykes' set only good for up to 2 years old. Not safe at all.
I also found the information online to be different from the actual onside information. Since I rarely on the Internet for info when I looked up the campground I was let down yet again upon arriving. Wood staed 10$/load when it was 15$/load. I was assured I would receive non-prime rates but had to request them.
Found the lady in the store very helpful though!
I would not recommend this campsite to anyone.

Positives: Nice beach which is actually outside of the campground. Drove to Kimbell which is only 30 minutes further and beach was way nicer as was campground.
For 10.00 you get quite a bit of firewood
Negatives: Main shower/bathroom house filthy
Our family stayed at RV site and had to pick up garbage and cigarette butts prior to setting up-they were totally disgusted.
Owners son whips around in a little golf cart paying no attention to the little kids in the area.
Mice leaving under the deck with homes dug into the wall of cabin.
Comments: We showed up at this lovely "lodge" to check in. Much to our incredible disappointment everything past that lodge was run down and not maintained. The little tikes playground has busted plastic stairs that are a safety hazard for children. We walked into our "fully modern" cabin and were disgusted at how dirty and run down it was. Floor is lifting up, the walls were filthy, the couch was stained and old, the kitchen chairs around the table had wholes and tears, the fridge was filthy and the freezer was so caked with ice that we could not put a lot in there. The bathroom was disgusting-black mold in shower, nithing had been cleaned from previous occupants. Kept waking up in the mornings with these strange bites-pretty sure there was a bed mites infestation. Once we discovered what they were (saw the little dark droppings all over our sheets we opted to leave. Spoke with the owner Jeff who said there was nothing he could do, that the cleaning lady was going to be fired at the end of the summer. After a bit of discussion he said he would credit us 98.00 out of about 1000.00. Told him that I would be contacting the health board and BBB and he told me that we would no longer be receiving any sort of refund. Totally unacceptable and we will NEVER go back or recommend.
