We have been camping here for 20+ years and feel it is the best campground ever , the staff are excellent & we have never had any problems with them but we are not obnoxious , inconsiderate & noisy party people either. The only improvements in my opinion would come from fellow campers not the campground managers , my biggest complaint is the idiots that must run there generators the whole damned time they are there . I do not go camping to listen to generators , if people could just use there heads and be considerate of others there would be a lot more happy campers . We have a generator ourselves but we only use it if necessary and then for short periods of time , I guess we need a generator policy stating times for the use of these things ie between certain hours & a time limit as people appear to be to stupid to charge there batteries at home or think they need to watch tv or run there A/C all day . There are plenty of camping facilities with full hookups if you can't live without them but very few with the beauty and privacy offered here , as far as checkout times we must realize that the managers have to cleanup behind people when they leave there messy campsites so it is ready for the next campers when they arrive and i bet the same people complaining about having to leave at noon would also complain if they had to wait to check in to a site because it was not ready . The option of paying for another day is almost always available.
Positives: Managers , Sites , location , Fees
Negatives: Generators , noisy dogs , noisy campers , people who have to drive everywhere ie the river , washrooms , to the top of the hill to use there phone....
We stayed at this campground the weekend of August 23-24. The campground is clean and well maintained. We found the sites quite small though. Coyotes are obviously a big problem so please keep your pets on the leash in in sight at all times. The group areas are the way to go if you have several families coming together. They were both quite nice and roomy on a big field. We had 4 families with kids, and we booked 4 sites (because the group areas had been already booked).
The managers/owners are not overly friendly and apparently mean business. The checkout is at noon which is ridiculous for a campground. The one lady started cruising in her golf cart at 11 am sending out a “message” she wanted everybody out by noon. She didn’t say that out loud, but it was quite clear. That certainly was not very necessary. The campground was half empty already. Most of other campgrounds we stayed at were very flexible with the checkout time, especially on a Sunday when nobody else is most likely coming. Just because of this, we don’t think we will be coming back.
Dump is extra $5.
Negatives: the staff is not very welcoming
Our experience at this campsite was terrible. The camp managers harrassed us at our group site after we had paid and were enjoying our evening, even going so far as to swat at one of our group who was seated at the time. The next day a boy in our group broke his leg and the managers were no help whatsoever, which ended up making the ambulance take much longer than necessary since they got lost. They were also heard to comment that this accident "couldnt have happened to a nicer group." They showed they have no heart at all. They also turned their lights out in their house when I arrived to speak to them about the accident and completely ignored me. We will never return here.
My family and I have been going here for years. We have always enjoyed our selfs and look forward to going camping here every time. The staff has changed over the years but the new caretakers are coming around.
Positives: Best site in central Alberta
