Every year we have a family get together on the August long weekend. This year we went to Hidden Valley. We booked 5 sites along the creek so the kids and dogs could cool down.
I believe in the past, the campground has experienced people sneaking into the the campground causing trouble and mischief. That would explain the exessive rules placed on us. Now we are not a loud and obnoxious group of campers. We helped a neighbor with repairing their vehicle for 1.5 hours, cleaned up after the dogs, and never stayed up later than 11pm. We were not allowed in the creek as it was a fish spawning creek although there was not a sight of a fish in it's two inches of water. We have a family member who lives in Salmon Arm. His pregnant wife came to the campground with two small children, a pot of two dozen corn and was denied entry down the hill to drop off her items at the camp site with her vehicle. She was told she had to park the vehicle, pay $3 for parking and walk the 200 meters with kids and corn in tow. Any secondary vehicle at a camp site was reported to the local RCMP. One of our family members were banned from the campground for having his secondary vehicle at the campsite. It was only parked there for about two hours.
I have never experienced such disrespect in the service industry as I experienced this August Long Weekend.
Positives: Washroom and Showers were clean. Wood playground equipment was liked by the children.
Negatives: Hwy was so close. It was hard to sleep with all the commercial trucks driving by all night. The Pit toilettes are not vented properly. Boy did they stink. The owners are rude and never seems appreciative of our patronage. The sites we received were too small for our 22' trailers and tightly packed together. Tenting sites are not level for anything larger than a 2 man tent.
