Positives: Grant is no longer there and Wally is back. Now the good times shall roll again.
Comments: I grew up going to Northwood Lodge every summer and would not have it any other way. Most of my best childhood memories are from there. Things took a turn for the worst when new management took over and my family had stopped attending finding another remote local spot to have our family camp. Fortuanatly, the person that had caused all the unhappiness has left and their is new management once again. Which also includes some of the original owners which made my childhood memories so fantastic. We had gone back this year in August of 2013 and although it was not exactly like it was, it was dang close. The friendly happy and most important welcoming atmosphere is back. It puts a smile on my face to know the place that i loved so much will still be there to bring my children too to build the same kind of memories.

Positives: Great customer service and hospitality. Beautiful setting and great accommodations.
Negatives: We should have booked for a longer holiday!
Comments: We had 10 absolutely wonderful days at Northwood in a most beautiful location on Timothy Lake! Under new management, Ann, Glen, Sherry - and Wally (yes he is back!) treated us like 'royalty' from the moment we arrived until the day we sadly had to leave. The resort was alive with families and guests of all ages. All we heard was laughter and people having fun, many improvements have been made and Wally visits every day to ensure everyone is happy or see if anything is needed. We have booked to return next year with the family and grand children!

Positives: The restaurant is a wonderful touch for this resort. The food was very good and resonably priced.
Negatives: Rude, owners/staff - unskilled in customer service. Essentials (garbage bags, toilet paper) required in cabins were not sufficient for the number of guests and their length of stay. "Rules" expected for guest to follow were not posted. Garbage not collected on daily basis.
Comments: This was a family reunion with no outside customers and it started out fine. The resort staff was friendly upon arrival but that changed very quickly. Their complaints were ongoing with many being directed to the hosts of the reunion expecting them to deal with, most of which were unfounded or seemed to be "made up". Profanities were used by the owner to guests, staff (not just the owners) were vocal about "issues" with the guests, garbage at cabins were not addressed all weekend (4 days)with no extra bags available for the occupants. Outside garbage cans had bags which were too small for them resulting in the bags falling into the containers and the garbage being deposited on top of them which resulted in nasty, rude comments to the guests from the owner. It is strongly felt by our group that the owners are totally unsuited to host such events. Over 100 people were there, many will post their comments and none will return to this site or recommend it to their friends. There was a lovely deck off their restaurant - too bad it is used to shout at guests!

Positives: Nice lake with lots of sites on lakeshore.
Comments: There was 106 people staying here for a family reunion. NEVER AGAIN!! All our family members are respectful toward others and their property. The male owner is a phycho rude idiot!. He screamed and yelled profanities at small children and adults. He never spoke calmly. He made false accusations about damages that were already done before we arrived. There was no reason to behave the way he did. Staying here could ruin your holiday.

Positives: Great location and beautiful lake.
Full accomodations including a liscenced restraunt with great food.
Good fishing and lots of wildlife.
Negatives: Moustraps in cabins and damaged furniture due to mice or other animals.
Poor customer service.
Animals in the liscenced restraunt.
Lack of Food Safe in the liscenced restraunt.
Bears in the area, but no bear-proof garbage cans or other precautions taken.
Boat docks too close to the swimming area.
I had stayed at Northwood Lodge and Resort in a cabin for 4 days with a family group. The resort is advertised as pet freindly, but seems to only cater to the owner's dogs and maybe any small breed dogs. There are dog droppings throughout the area and some of the cabins have animal damage including furniture that has been chewed on, peed on and some even had nests from mice.
There must have been some great miscommunitcation between the owners, Resort staff and guests becuase the Resort rules seemed to change everyday and from guest to guest. The professionalism and customer service skills were greatly lacking when the owners and Resort staff yelled at the guests with an excessive use of profanity. Rather than speaking to the guests in a respectfull manner, they preferred to yell and swear off their restraunt balcony which was not appreciated by anyone including guests that wree not a part of our group. A guest from our group had reported a broken hot water tank. Where the owners should have called a plumber, they decided to send an employee to do the repairs. Two days later, the hot water tank exploded releasing hot steam all over the cabin. We were also not impressed when one of the Resort employees started weedeating by the cabins at 8am.
Overall, we felt more like intruders rather than paying customers and guests at Northwood Lodge and Resort and will not be returning.

Positives: Beautiful lake
Negatives: Awful staff that treat their guests poorly.
Poorly maintained cabins and grounds.
Not family friendly .
Not pet friendly.
No "fixed rules" as they were changed day to day or hour to hour
Comments: We visited North Woods Lodge for a family gathering to celebrate my grandmother's 80th Birthday. The location was great situated on a beautiful lake. The stay however was very unpleasant. We felt more like intruders to the resort staff than guests. The owners were incredibly rude and changed thier minds and rules from day to day and from guest to guest. Foul language was used and rude comments were made to guests including the children. The first few hours the owners were friendly and welcoming but by our first evening they quickly turned and were yelling from their balcony and making inappropriate comments. Our group had called ahead of time about pets and were informed that pets were very welcome at the resort. When we got there however, the only pets welcome there were the ones that belonged to the owner. This place is not a pet or family friendly resort and I would not recommend for anyone to stay there. Also one of our group members tripped and hurt himself over a pile of steel siding that was carelessly left on the ground. The staff were very unprofessional, rude and lacked any courtesy for thier guests. Until the ownership changes, I will not be returning!!

This is not a "pet" friendly, nor a family friendly place. While I was there I heard the staff yelling profanities from their restaurant, in front of all the small children. They also verbally attacked a few of the guests. The place is in a nice location, but the cabins on site were poorly maintained. There were holes in all the furniture, mouse traps set, animal droppings throughout. one of the cabins had no hot water then had the hot water tank explode with 2 children in the cabin. Also there was dog droppings from their 3 dogs throughout the campsite.
The rules they had posted only seemed to obtain to our group and no one else there.
This place is poorly run and overpriced.I will not be returning.

Comments: My experience camping at Northwoods lodge & resort with my family, was not a pleasant one. The staff were definetly not family or pet friendly. It is my opinion that the staff uses to much foul language in front of children. They have rules that dont aply to them when it comes to pets, and I also found that their rules over all changed everyday for the 4 days we were there.
