We get to enjoy the Park and its beauty by Horseback riding,Hiking,picnics,snowmobiling....we get to enjoy the park in all seasons. the park has many uses and the public has enjoyed it for years...as they should for many years to come...but Buchanan Lumber out of High Prairie has contracted a company to go and cut the big and beautifull Pines and that will turn the Park into 93 acres of cut Block...it will be replanted with 6 inch trees....they are doing this because Sustainable Resources Development has proposed that 30% of the trees are "RED AND DEAD" From the Pine Beetle...they did this from flying over the Park...not from a walk through assesment. Some of the Pines are Red in color because that is the normal color for some of those Pines within the Park! This is all wrong as their estimate is high on the "RED AND DEAD"...it may even be as low as 15-20%..why not cut what has to be cut and just leave the healthy and alive trees as they are? This whole idea of cutting 100% of the trees while only a small portion is showing signs of stress is wrong...why not just deal with the pest in a responsible manner...so the Park can remain healthy and alive for years to come?
Positives: The Beauty of such a natural setting with a small River running through the Park with the big and healthy Pines protecting the natural beauty is just awesome to see.
Negatives: Buchanen Lumber is going to Cut the Pine trees and destroy the natural beauty
