Positives: Beautiful location
Beautiful old building but in serious need of some updates. Attended a wedding and the ballroom was overcrowded and stifling hot. either no a/c, broken a/c or there was no a/c at all..
elevator seemed to break down from time to time or was turned off , steps extremely steep for elderly or disabled so working elevator to 3rd floor necessary. Owner or person in charge was rather rude to several guests. Saw several people physically ill from the heat. A venue like this should have adequate cooling or heating system and handicapped access. People should be informed before renting this venue the cooling and handicap access problems. This lovely couple deserved better. Will not recommend this venue to anyone.

We just came back from the Baldachin Inn and had to submit a review. We were traveling around for a few days. Anyhow, our room was very clean and comfortable. The meal at the Baldachin Inn was incredible. We had the poached pear salad with cranberries and stilton cheese. I am a salad freak and this was one of the best salads I have ever had. We also had the organic chicken club sandwich - which we shared and they brought it out on separate plates with the best sweet potato fries I have ever had. The waitress was great. She recommended excellent local beers and the glasses of wine were generous for the price.
Go to Merrickville for a romantic weekend. Enjoy the shops, hike along the canal, stay at the Baldachin Inn - eat at the restaurant. Have a beer in the backyard patio. You will have a great time.

Comments: Stayed with my girlfriends for the weekend. I loved everything. The rooms, whrlpools, the pub, the dining room, the food and the staff were great. I will definitely be going back. Great shopping in the village too.

Comments: This was the first time my husband and I stayed here and enjoyed it very much. The room was beautiful and the price was great(I realize it was off season), much better then other places I had checked. We will return.
